October-November 2006 Summary

The elders held two regular meetings in October and four meetings in November. Every elders meeting began with a devotional followed by prayer for specific needs in the body of CCC. Devotionals in October and November were led by Bruce Angle (God’s timing), and Bob Fox (God’s Holiness). Administrative issues requiring frequent monitoring and action were typically the first order of business after the devotion and prayer time. A summary of key issues of that nature, discussed in October - November, are found below:

  • Giving and attendance information

God was very gracious to CCC in the months of October – November as weekly giving improved significantly. At the end of November CCC was approximately $26.3K (4%) behind the 2006 ministry financial target. The buffer account at the end of November was approximately $25.9K. Average weekly attendance for October was approximately 457, and for November was approximately 475.

  • Brian and Patty Wulf, Matt Atchinson, and Chris and Lois Propp were affirmed as new members of CCC.

Specific Elder Board business, outside of the routine items mentioned above, which arose during October – November is summarized below:

  • The elders conducted a telephone interview with a prospective Sr. Pastor candidate. The CCC elders asked the prospective candidate for permission to further advance the process by having select CCC Search Team and elder board members interact with the prospective candidate’s body to which he currently ministers. Interaction would include visits by CCC Search Team members and CCC elders, and interviews of the prospective candidate’s elder board and body. The prospective candidate requested permission to visit CCC first, prior to that activity. The elders approved the request for a low-key visit to CCC by the prospective candidate. After further e-mail exchanges with various CCC staff and elders the prospective candidate expressed several issues of concern, and ultimately chose not to visit CCC. The elders discussed those issues of concern and motioned the Sr. Pastor Search Team to continue screening additional prospective Sr. Pastor candidates.

  • The elders agreed to increase the number of men serving on the board by up to three new members for 2007. Men whose names were under consideration were discussed. Three prospective candidates were chosen after unanimous consent was reached on all three. Interviews were conducted for all three candidates. After further prayer and consideration one man withdrew; the other two men decided to press forward. A letter was issued from the church office November 21, 2006 announcing Peter Shaw and Mike Perry as the two prospective elders. After a 30 day comment period a vote will then be taken by the body to affirm the two new candidates and to re-affirm the existing board members for 2007.

  • After much work a 2007 Ministry Financial Proposal was crafted and agreed upon. The proposed financial targets for 2007 are similar to those found in the 2006 approved budget. Ministry Team Leaders were contacted and provided the new financial information for their individual team’s 2007 planning purposes.

  • The Worship Team detailed plans to hold a worship seminar the week of March 17th and sought permission to allow the leader of that seminar, Tom Kraeuter, to speak from the CCC pulpit. After due diligence investigation by several elders and staff the board agreed to allow the speaker.

If you have any questions about the elder’s discussions or would like more information, please contact an elder. Contact information for each elder is found in the CCC Directory.
