Elder’s Journal
September 2006 Summary
The elders held three regularly scheduled meetings in September with one day in early September set aside as a work day for a service project. Every elders meeting began with a devotional followed by prayer for specific needs in the body of CCC. Devotionals in September were led by Rich Carlson (Ephesians 3:14-21), Rick Lum (Lordship Salvation wrap-up), and Alan Gunn (Psalm 103). Administrative issues requiring frequent monitoring and action were typically the first order of business after the devotion and prayer time. A summary of key issues of that nature, discussed in September, are found below:
- Giving and attendance information
CCC was able to meet its basic financial obligations throughout the month of September. Giving improved to a weekly average of $12.3K with the total giving as of 9/24 being $458.6K which is approximately $28.8K (4.4%) behind the 2006 ministry target. The buffer account at the end of September was approximately $26.5K. Average weekly attendance for September was approximately 441.
- Neil Blatnik, Cat Corriveau, and Dan and Teresa Wallace were affirmed as new members of CCC.
Specific Elder Board business, outside of the routine items mentioned above, which arose during September is summarized below:
- The Senior Pastor Search Team had ongoing telephone and e-mail interaction with a prospective candidate. At this stage the process involves asking more specific questions and performing additional information gathering (e.g., conversations with references, etc).
- The elder selection process for 2007 was initiated. Nominations received from the body were tallied and the results were presented to the board. Those men who were nominated will be contacted to determine if they aspire to serve. The number of new elders and the size of the board were discussed.
- The process for drafting a financial plan for 2007 was initiated.
- The Missions Team proposed a China trip for April/May of 2007. The motion was approved.
