August 2006 Summary

The elders held three regularly scheduled meetings in August. Every elders meeting began with a devotional followed by prayer for specific needs in the body of CCC. Devotionals in August were led by Rich Carlson and Rick Lum. Topics included church leadership and organization (Mark 10:35 – 45) and the “Lordship Salvation” issue. Administrative issues requiring frequent monitoring and action were typically the first order of business after the devotion and prayer time. A summary of key issues of that nature, discussed in August, are found below:

  • Giving and attendance information

CCC was able to meet its basic financial obligations throughout the month of August. Low giving the later part of July necessitated use of ~ $5K from the buffer. As of the end of August the buffer was ~ $26.4K. Average weekly attendance for August was approximately 415, which includes an estimate for those attending the Church Without Walls service held at Freeman Park. Giving for the month of August averaged approximately $11.1K per week.

Specific Elder Board business, outside of the routine items mentioned above, which arose during August is summarized below:

  • The Senior Pastor Search Team issued a summary letter to CCC on 8/31 recapping activities since the team was formed, and providing an update on the current status of the search. Additional information regarding the search status can be found at the search team’s web site.

  • A letter was issued to CCC on 8/31 regarding the 2007 Elder selection process. The elder selection process has begun and will progress through the end of December. Kermit Gill and Gene Hansen who have both served 5 years will be stepping down at the end of this year. The total number of elders to comprise the 2007 board has not yet been decided.

  • Rich Carlson requested permission to raise support for a March Mission trip that he will be taking. The motion was approved.

  • The elders participated twice in August to a service project to paint Melanie Wright’s porch and deck.

  • A motion to compensate Dave Gibson for partial travel expenses incurred in August visiting with the Sr. Pastor Search Team and the elders was approved for $750.

If you have any questions about the elder’s discussions or would like more information, please contact an elder. Contact information for each elder is found in the CCC Directory.
