January 2006 Summary

The elders met every Tuesday in January 2006 for their regularly scheduled meetings. Every regular meeting begins with a devotional followed by prayer for specific needs in the body of CCC. Administrative issues requiring frequent monitoring and action are typically the first order of business after the devotion and prayer time. A summary of key issues of that nature, discussed in January, is found below:

* Giving and attendance information

Whereas CCC was able to meet its basic financial obligations, weekly giving for the month of January trended approximately 6% below the approved 2006 budget. Attendance figures for January show an average attendance of 471 + 27 for both Sunday services over 5 weeks.

* Confirmation of the Sunday lock-up rotation

The Sunday lock-up rotation was finalized and each elder participates in the lock-up rotation which consists of meeting with prayer partners after the second service to lift up confidential requests in prayer, and locking up the church afterwards.

* Confirmation of the Sunday Corporate Prayer and Offering Prayer assignments

A sign-up sheet was passed around and Corporate Prayer and Offering Prayer assignments were filled through the end of February.

* New member interview assignments

Assignments were made as soon as prospective members became eligible.

Specific Elder Board business, outside of the routine items mentioned above, which arose during the month of January is summarized below:

  • In follow-up to specific comments given during the 11/20/2005 Elder’s Forum, the elders modified the verbiage of different sections of the frontmatter of the CCC Directory. The newly updated frontmatter will appear in the new CCC Directory which will be available in February. The weekly Heartbeat will also reflect the new changes.
  • The preaching schedule was proposed and all slots were filled through the month of April. The line-up includes members of the CCC body, elders, staff, CCC missionaries, and invited guest speakers.
  • The 2006 CCC finalized and approved budget was distributed.
  • Bob Fox was affirmed as a new elder; David Gianotto and Greg Losinski stepped off the board in January after 5 years and 4 years of service, respectively. All other elders were re-affirmed. Alan Gunn was re-affirmed by the elders to serve as the chairman for 2006.
  • Amber Miller was affirmed as the Women’s Ministry Team Leader.
  • A second Elder’s Forum was planned for 2/5/2006 to be immediately followed by a time of fellowship.
  • A Senior Pastor executive search committee was formed. Elders Vic Pearson (chairman), Brennon Orr, Gene Hansen, and Bruce Angle are serving as the executive committee. The committee will take the lead for establishing candidate qualifications and performing the searching and screening process for candidates. The committee will frequently report progress and issues to the full elder board and the body. The executive committee will be responsible for soliciting CCC members to serve on the search committee. The executive search committee will also be the contact point for searching for an interim pastor. A letter from the elders to the CCC body was issued 1/27/2006 providing further details.
  • Ray and Debbie Fury offered to serve as the Prayer Team Leaders. The affirmation process began in January. A letter to CCC members was issued 1/5/2006 regarding the Fury’s.
  • Approximately 50 people attended a time of intercessory prayer (ACTS Fast) on 1/28/2006 at the church.
  • The elders met with the staff and re-affirmed their support and appreciation of the staff. The elders listened to staff comments and sought resolution of issues that were communicated. Gene Hansen began serving as the elder liaison to the staff and will meet weekly with the staff for a time of prayer and information exchange.

If you have any questions about the elder’s discussions or would like more information, please contact an elder. Contact information for each elder is found in the CCC Directory.
