Our Mission

Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ to our community and world as Savior and Lord and to present to Jesus Christ a community of worshipping, growing disciples.

Our Vision

We believe that God will help us become more effective in fulfilling our mission and to this end we will give our time, energy, and substance.  We trust Him to enlarge us with both personal and numeric growth as others join us in His work.  We will achieve more genuine and wholehearted corporate worship that honors God and enlarges our vision of Him.  We will become better at serving Him and caring for one another through high quality specialized ministries.  By His grace, we will develop excellent citywide ministries for youth, singles and families and an effective network of small groups.  We will help each other love God with our minds by building upon and expanding our Christian Education programs.  We will expand and improve our proclamation of the gospel through friendship evangelism and global missions.  We want to continue to be a "safe place" for those who do not yet know Jesus Christ and desire to learn about Him and consider His claims.  We will cooperate with, encourage, and support other believers and churches who are committed to Jesus Christ, to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to the Bible as God's Word.

Our Distinctives

Biblical - The Bible is the Word of God and the source for what we believe and the standard for how we live. The Bible “is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training  in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  The central theme of the Bible is the person and redemptive work of Jesus Christ.  We want our beliefs, expressions, and actions to conform to God's Word as closely as possible so that we can faithfully proclaim the person and work of Christ.

Evangelical - The central work of God in Jesus Christ is our salvation.  Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead.  Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead.  He died in our place and suffered the penalty that we deserved because of our sin.  On the basis of His death those who trust in Jesus Christ are forgiven by God, brought into relationship with God as His children, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.  This gospel or “good news,” is at the heart of the ministry and fellowship of Christ Community Church. We desire, above all, to proclaim Jesus as Savior to the people of our community, nation and world (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:8).

Dependent upon the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit indwells, empowers, and gifts each believer for service. The Spirit uses the Word of God to convict us of sin, to transform our habits of thought and behavior, to encourage us, and to strengthen our faith.  The Bible achieves its full effect in our lives only through the work of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14; John 16:13-15). We emphasize prayer as a means of confessing our dependence on God and seeking His help and direction for our lives and service.

Elder-led, emphasizing ministry by all believers - CCC is led by elders who shepherd the flock, teach, and set the overall direction for our ministries (Acts 20:17; Titus 1:5).  In leading they strive to be responsive to input from the entire congregation. We believe that all followers of Jesus Christ are called to minister (Ephesians 4:12; 1 Peter 4:10) and seek to promote and support this through our Ministry Team structure.

Emphasizing meaningful, whole-hearted worship  - We strive to worship God in ways that are worthy of Him. This means worshipping out of whole-hearted devotion the One Who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ.  We want our corporate worship and our individual patterns of life to be means of declaring our God’s infinite glory and worth so that others will join us in worshipping Him.  We believe that such worship is the only proper response to God, Who is graciously present with us and for us. (Matthew 22:37; John 4:24; Psalm 34:20).

Non-"charismatic," but not anti-"charismatic" - We emphasize and pursue the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, hearts, and minds through the study and application of God's written Word.  To maintain this focus we do not "speak in tongues" or seek "signs and wonders" in our public services and gatherings.  We welcome to our fellowship all who appreciate this emphasis and will help us maintain it, regardless of their personal conviction or private practice regarding miraculous gifts.  We do pray for healing in cases of sickness and believe that God answers our prayers according to His will (James 5:12-16).
